happy 2010! *updates*
Happy New Year everyone! I realized my last post was in 2009, and once again, I apologize for neglecting you, blog, and followers! :P I've looked at my list and noticed that I'm either in the process of completing some of my 101s or can scratch a few off my list! I also decided to make a change as well. warning...this might be a long post...
3. Try 3 kinds of different cuisine. Paris & I recently went up to Northern Virginia to have an after Christmas dinner with our soon-to-be DC fam. They decided on an Indian restaurant, Tandoori Nights, in Arlington, VA. This was our first time trying Indian, and the Chicken Makhani, also known as "buttered chicken" was highly recommended. So, we ordered that, as well as Chicken and Spinach. it was pretty good, except Paris wasn't too fond of it, so we had to make a stop at Mickey D's afterwards. :P After eating there, I realized that, while in DC, I've also tried Ethiopian food (Dukem Restaurant in DC) and Lebanese food (Lebanese Taverna in Arlington). So, I can scratch this off my list! :) of course, I'm going to continue trying different kind of cuisines!
I forget what we ordered at Dukem, but it was definitely interesting...
5. Try a new dessert recipe. My favorite '99 peoples & I have made it a tradition to have a Christmas get together every year. We have the dirty santa gift exchange and make it a potluck, so I thought it'd be a great idea to try a new dessert recipe. So, I decided to make Paula Deen's Chocolate Pecan Pie! it was yummmy! too bad I didn't get a picture of the final result, but from what my friends said, it turned out pretty good! =)
26. (OLD) Purchase my Paul Frank beach cruiser. (NEW) Get a fish pedicure. I'm not sure I'll be purchasing a beach cruiser anytime soon, especially if we make the move to DC. I've always pictured myself riding a beach cruiser at the VB oceanfront. If we eventually live near a beach in the future, I'll consider buying one then. So, instead, I wanted to write about how I got a fish pedicure! Joy had mentioned this to me and asked if I wanted to join her, so I told her I'd try it with her. I've known about this from my sister, though, when she went to S. Korea and had her entire body submerged in a tub of those fishies. At least when I went, it was just for our feet. We went to Yvonne's Salon in Alexandria, VA. All I have to say is that it was a weird tingly, ticklish feeling, and my feet did feel smoother than it did beforehand. It was only for 15 minutes, but the guy helping us thought he was doing us a favor & added 10+ minutes to our session. It was a fun experience, though - thanks again, Joy, for inviting me to do it with you!
46. Get quality sunglasses. I guess I was complaining to Chris A LOT about my sunglasses. they lasted a long time considering they were from Target and only $10. but the lens would pop out every so often, especially if I dropped them. So, I guess Chris took that as an opportunity to buy me sunglasses for Christmas. He got me black Rayban Wayfarers, and I heart them! now, let's just hope I don't drop these as much as my old ones. hehe.
53. Buy a new accessory for my Canon Rebel XTI. Ok, so I didn't actually buy one, but I did get one for Christmas from my lovely family. I got a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens! It's light, fun, and great for low-light indoor photos. I rarely have to use the flash, but I'm still learning the different manual settings for the different lighting situations. I plan on getting more and more accessories for my camera in the future, so it doesn't stop here! :)
68. Have a date with Chris once a month for 6 months. (1/6) Chris & I had a date night this past Sunday, which was long overdue. We ate out at Chili's and then, went to Jillian's to be kids again and play games with/against each other. it was lots of fun!
79. Enroll Paris in piano lessons. I got an email at work that CHCS still had openings for piano lessons. We were inquiring about it in the beginning of the year, but didn't know if Paris really wanted to do it, especially for a whole year. With enrolling her now, at least it's only for half the year and we did save some money, too. I also love that it's during the school day when she can get out of class. we'll see how she does by the end of the year!
87. Pick out Paris' fave art work and frame them or put in a scrapbook. So, this past weekend, we busted out Paris' tubs of crafty work from her days at La Petite to her art work from Kindergarten. We went through all of them and picked out our favorites, and then, we asked Paris to pick out her favorites, too. It was a long process, but we finally narrowed it down and created a collage of her artwork and put them in frames. We also framed 3 of her pieces from Art class when she was in Kindergarten last year, where 2 were featured in the art show. :) not only did we put them in frames, we actually hung them in her room (thx to Iris' help)!
